BPOS to Office 365 DNS Changes

Microsoft BPOS to Office 365 transition will probably happen over a weekend and may take a few days to complete. Microsoft will send several emails about transition schedule along with a number of changes you need to perform before and after transition. Here is some list of changes you need to make Office 365 to work properly.

DNS Changes for Exchange

Create or update

  • DNS Type – CNAME
  • Name – autodiscover.your domain (for example: autodiscover.serverconsultancy.co.uk)
  • Target – autodiscover.outlook.com

DNS Changes for Lync Online

(Record 1)

  • DNS Type – SRV
  • Service Name – _sipfederationtls
  • Protocol – _tcp
  • Priority – 100
  • Weight – 1
  • Port – 5061
  • TTL – 1 hour
  • Name – your domain name (for example: serverconsultancy.co.uk)
  • Target – sipfed.online.lync.com

(Record 2)

  • DNS Type – SRV
  • Service Name – _sip
  • Protocol – _tls
  • Priority – 100
  • Weight – 1
  • Port – 443
  • TTL – 1 hour
  • Name – your domain name (for example: serverconsultancy.co.uk)
  • Target – sipdir.online.lync.com

(Record 3)

  • DNS Type – CNAME
  • Name – your domain name (for example: serverconsultancy.co.uk)
  • Target – sipdir.online.lync.com
